I specialize in monetization of digital content, whether mobile or online, combined with substantial experience in corporate strategy development and execution, new business/product development, start-ups and entrepreneurship, and mergers & acquisitions. I head up Payment Partnerhsips for PlaySpan, a Visa company, where I specialize in alternative payments for digital goods. I have founded and invested in a number of start-ups, mainly in the mobile area.
Previously, I was COO for a viral marketing and entertainment service called Storyz. Storyz allowed brands to engage users in conversational style competitions, that ran across platforms (web (Facebook, MySpace, etc), email, mobile sites and mobile applications). I founded and headed up my own company in the mobile content distribution space, called MoConDi. It was the first company to have an open model for distribution of mobile content such as games, wallpapers, ringtones and more. We had over 1000 content partners, and contracts with major mobile operators across Europe. We pioneered the mobile content distribution model, which earned me a TV spot on CNBC:
I also headed up Corporate Strategy and Development for The Mobile Media Company. Mobile Media was a pioneer in mobile streaming and 3D animation on mobile phones. I set up a development office in Sri Lanka, ran the Sales & Marketing office in London, and created business plans for the company’s many technology platforms. I was also part of launching the western world’s first live mobile streaming demo of a TV program on GPRS, when we streamed Big Brother in Sweden (the technology was almost easier to build than getting the correct GPRS settings from Swedish operators!).
Before going into mobile, I worked in Strategy Consulting, Corporate Finance and Knowledge Management for Ernst & Young. I also worked as a consultant and systems developer for Andersen Consulting (Accenture).
