Day 2 at the GSM World Congress in Barclona. Day 1 was markedly empty, with attendance looking to be less than half of last year. However, on Day 2 the suits showed up en masse, and looks like the GSM conference it used to be, with the subway flooded with men in black (we really need more gender equalization in this industry).
It was interesting to not how the economy has affected the organizers. The custom free pass to the metro was gone. More alarmingly however, was the lack of metal detectors and scanning equipment at the entrance. I guess the organizers have figured out that probably nobody gains from bombing a wireless conference… Oh, well, this is still a fascinating industry 🙂
